The Carmelite Nuns Convent
Opening hours: by special permission only
The Carmelite Nuns convent is a modest, cloistered convent located in the center of the city, on Carmelite Street. The Nuns of the convent spend their days in long periods of meditative prayer.
The founder of the convent, Mariam Baouardy, had previously established a convent in Bethlehem in 1867 but felt a calling to Nazareth. The Carmelite Nuns convent was completed by fellow nuns in 1878, shortly after her death.
Note: When visiting the Convent please dress modestly and speak softly.
